School District #28 offers tuition-free, online courses for adults looking to upgrade their education.
The adult courses are offered online. The online course offerings allow flexibility for adults to:
- Work at a pace that suits them
- Fit studies around work and family responsibilities
- Study from home while balancing other commitments
Adult students will need access to a computer and the Internet to be able to access the courses.
In-Person Testing Requirement
Unit test, midterms and final exams must be completed in person under supervision at:
Baker School 610 Wade Ave Quesnel, BC V2J 1E3
This is the only face-to-face requirement of the program.
The Two Adult Pathways
There are two pathways for adults looking to upgrade their education.
1) Adult Dogwood
The Adult Dogwood is a program for adults who have not yet graduated from high school.
To earn the British Columbia Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood), students must complete:
- Language Arts 12
- Mathematics 11 (Accounting 11 is also an option)
- Three other Grade 12 Ministry-authorized courses
Alternatively, students may complete:
- Language Arts 12
- Mathematics 11 (Accounting 11 is also an option)
- Social Studies 11
- Two other Grade 12 Ministry-authorized courses
Other Information about the Adult Dogwood
- You need to be 18 years or older to enroll in the Adult Dogwood program.
- Courses completed at a previous school may count toward graduation requirements.
- Students must complete at least three courses after turning 18 years old to qualify for the Adult Dogwood.
- Adults may also choose to complete the regular Dogwood Diploma.
2) Graduated Adult Upgrading
Graduated Adult Upgrading is intended for adults who have already graduated from high school but wish to:
- Upgrade existing course marks
- Complete prerequisite courses for college, university, or trades programs
- Improve their academic standing for future educational opportunities
School District #28 offers a selection of tuition-free upgrading courses through the Ministry of Education’s Adult Upgrading Program.
